A Journey of Perseverance

The American Dream

The journey of TABE began many years ago with the American dream. The family behind TABE immigrated from Asia with nothing but determination and passion. It was the husband who first built from the ground up, taking on jobs in restaurants where he showed his compassionate spirit – often cooking extra meals specifically for homeless people in need.

Growing a Vision

What started as a dream soon blossomed into reality. Together, the husband and wife’s entrepreneurial spirit led to opening their first restaurant, then establishing one of the largest Asian supermarkets in the area. The success continued with additional restaurants and business ventures, eventually including one of the largest nail supply stores and unique establishments like Beyond Home, offering distinctive home goods not found elsewhere.

A Legacy of Giving

Following the husband’s tragic passing, his wife established the 168 Group to bring together all these diverse companies under one unified mission: to give back to the community – continuing the legacy of generosity her husband had started. She established a charitable foundation in his name and continuously supports the community through monthly food drives and various outreach initiatives, honoring his memory and their shared vision.

The Artist Behind Our Story

The paintings and decorations in the store are created by Michigan’s renowned female calligrapher, Jieyu Wang Alatchanian. Her work seamlessly blends the essence of Zen with the art of calligraphy, offering viewers boundless space for imagination. The store’s interior design is rooted in Eastern aesthetics, with wabi-sabi as its core style.

The Art of TABE
